Prince Albert has a metropolitan population of more than 42,000 people, making it the third-largest city in the province. The area was made a town in 1885 and was incorporated as a city in 1904. Prince Albert is near the centre of Saskatchewan and is considered to be the Gateway of the North.

Many different industries have been important to Prince Albert over the years including forestry, agriculture, mining, retail, and tourism. Biofuels have become more important to the city in recent years. A large number of people in the community are employed in the government service sector.

Getting Around in Prince Albert

Prince Albert Transit controls bus transportation in the city. Service is available Monday through Friday from 6:45 a.m. to 7:15 p.m., and on Saturday from 9:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.

Glass Field Airport has flights to Saskatoon and Regina regularly. Residents who need to go further will have to go to Saskatoon and then take flights to other destinations. Many highways come through Prince Albert and lead to a range of destinations including Melfort, Regina, Saskatoon, La Ronge, and other locations.

The majority of the residents who live in Prince Albert will have vehicles that they can use for commuting since the buses don’t run around the clock.
