The city of Windsor is located in the southwestern portion of Ontario along the Detroit River. It is right across from Detroit, Michigan in the United States. The population of Windsor is at almost 230,000 as of the 2021 census. This makes it the third-largest city in this part of Ontario in terms of population. The Ambassador Bridge remains the largest international suspension bridge in the world! The bridge’s total length is 7,500 feet (2,286 m). The Windsor-Detroit border is the busiest international crossing in North America, making Windsor a crucial trade hub between Canada and the US.

Much of the economy in Windsor is based on manufacturing, including the automobile industry. Other large industries in the city include education, tourism, and government services, along with alternative energy, software, and pharmaceuticals. Some of the large employers include St. Clair College and the University of Windsor. Other large employers include FCA Canada, Caesars Windsor, and the Ford Motor Company.

Getting Around in Windsor

Transit Windsor provides public bus transportation in the city. It has 15 bus routes and 114 vehicles. Greyhound can provide bus transportation out of the city. Intercity passenger rail service is provided by Via Rail. The city is served by the Windsor International Airport.
