Getting Around in Rossland
The majority of people living in Rossland get around by car or truck as there isn’t much in the way of local transit. Those who live closer to the centre of town will be able to walk to many locations. Having a car is still ideal for the winter months.
The West Kootenay Transit System serves several towns in the area including Rossland and Castlegar. During the winter, the Rossland Ski Bus transports people between several places in Rossland and the Red Mountain Resort.
Kootenay Gateway provides a range of shuttle services for residents and visitors. They have a daily shuttle service that will take people to and from the Spokane Airport, shuttles for the local airports, and they have a “safe ride home” program.
Rossland is serviced by three nearby airports that are within driving distance. The Trail Regional Airport is just 15 minutes away and the West Kootenay Airport is about a half hour away. Given the proximity of the U.S., some will opt to drive to the Spokane International Airport across the border, which is about 2.5 hours away.
