Established in 1891, North Bay is located in Ontario along the shores of Lake Nipissing. One of the things that separate North Bay from many of the other communities in northern Ontario is the economic diversity. The city is home to several colleges including Nipissing University, Canadore College, Modern College, and Canadian Career College. North Bay has also hosted many film productions over the years including Captains of the Clouds, The Colony, Still Mine, and Backcountry.
What You Can See and Do in North Bay

Another outdoor activity to experience is the Duchesnay Falls Trails. It is a 3 km trail that will take you right past the waterfalls. You could also head to the Laurier Woods Conservation Area, which has 240 acres of wetlands and forests, or you can wander along the 10km trail.
The Heritage Railway and Carousel Company is always a fun place to visit during the summer months. It is a historic carousel that kids of all ages are going to love riding. They will also enjoy hopping on the miniature railway.
You might also want to head to the Canadian Forces Museum of Aerospace Defence. It features aircraft and a host of exhibits from WWI, WWII, the Cold War, and beyond.

The public bus system is operated by North Bay Transit. There is also an intercity bus service and the North Bay/Jack Garland Airport. Most of the residents in the city have vehicles of their own. Some areas of the city are walkable, and there are some bike lanes and bike paths.
